Dropping back and owning up: ASU's Manny Wilkins clarifies sideline spat, postgame remarks

ASU coach Herm Edwards talks about his players showing emotion and energy on the sidelines Arizona Republic

Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins was trying to get ready for the biggest game of the season, a road scrap this weekend against No. 12 Washington, but it was Wednesday, the day he speaks to reporters, and they kept asking him about San Diego State.

The three-year starter wasn’t flustered. He’s prepared for an aggressive rush.

It’s like what he told offensive lineman Roy Hemsley about crowd noise: “This ain’t my first rodeo, dog.”

The reporters came up the middle, asking Wilkins about offensive coordinator Rob Likens’ play calling in the third quarter of the 28-21 loss.
