TEMPE – Friday the 13th is a night for the Devils as Arizona State men's ice hockey (1-0-0) defeated No. 15 Merrimack College (0-1-0), 1-0, in an overtime nailbiter at Mullett Arena. Senior alternate captain Matthew Kopperud haunted the Warriors through 60 minutes of regulation, finally putting the nail in the coffin with the sole goal of the game.
Goaltender TJ Semptimphelter completed his sixth career shutout in the maroon and gold. The New Jersey native made 31 saves as he inched closer to Sun Devil Hockey alum Joey Daccord's all-time shutout record of eight games.
