Sophomore David Puig is 36 holes away from doing just that at The Prestige in La Quinta after firing his collegiate best with a 7-under 64. Both ASU and Puig are leading the 24-team tournament, held at the Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST (par-71/7,100 yards).
Puig, coming off wins at the Southwestern Invitational and the Amer Ari, shot his 7-under 64 with seven birdies (second best in round one) and leads by three strokes over three players as 23 players in the 120-player field shot below par.
