College basketball players have until Aug. 3 to withdraw from NBA draft

Now that the NBA has settled on when and how the season will resume, other deadlines are being established.

The deadline for college athletes to withdraw from the draft and return to their respective colleges has been set for 10 days after the NBA draft combine or Aug. 3, whichever comes first. That announcement was made by the NCAA today.

The previous date had been June 3 but the uncertainty around the resumption of the season because of the coronavius pandemic resulted in that being pushed back.

“This provides the utmost flexibility to student-athletes testing the waters to make the most informed decision about their future during this uncertain time,” NCAA Senior Vice President for Basketball Dan Gavitt said in a released statement.
