Nikki Blue is joining Arizona State women's basketball as an assistant coach replacing Briann January.
January, after two seasons working at her alma mater, is returning fulltime to her WNBA playing career. She is going into her second season with the Phoenix Mercury and 11th overall in the WNBA after her college career at ASU (2005-09).
January, 32, signed a multi-year contract with the Mercury in February. In her first season with Phoenix, she led the WNBA in 3-point percentage (career best 47.0) while averaging 7.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists. She played through a shoulder injury suffered during training camp, starting 33 games.
