ASU's Michael Crow: Pac-12 sports postponement good for 'buying knowledge'

Michael Crow prefers offense to defense.

To build on that sports analogy, the 64-year-old Crow, now 18 years into his presidency at Arizona State, believes ASU and the Pac-12 not simply buying time (aka playing defense) amidst the coronavirus pandemic by postponing athletic competition until January at the earliest.

"We're buying knowledge," Crow said. "It's different than just buying time. A lot of organizations are sitting around and waiting. I think that's a poorly conceived strategy.

"We're acquiring additional skills, knowledge, know how, systems, technologies," to cope with COVID-19. "It's not going away. We've just got to figure out how to manage it the best we can.
