With 20 starters returning, there are lofty expectations in the Arizona state football program this season. So not surprisingly, junior quarterback Jayden Daniels and senior corner Chase Lucas have been named to preseason awards watch lists at their respective positions.
Daniels has made the Maxwell Award Watch List for the third time. The returning captain has been the starter since his first game as a freshman and has come up big with games on the line. He is credited with 877 passing yards in the fourth quarter of games in his career, 14th among Power Five quarterbacks since 2019.
