ASU women's basketball freshmen yet to make major impact but progressing on veteran team

Arizona State women's basketball has yet to see the best from Taya Hanson. Or any of its freshmen for that matter.

Unlike 2013-14 when ASU needed freshmen Sophie Brunner and Kelsey Moos to start or 2016-17 when Reili Richardson worked her way into the lineup, this season's four freshmen are coming off the bench on a veteran team ranked No. 19.

It's not that Hanson and her classmates — Iris Mbulito, Jayde Van Hyfte and Jamie Loera — aren't talented enough to play. Three are averaging double-digit minutes (although Loera has been out for the last five games with a hamstring injury) and Van Hyfte is at 8.
