Yvonne Sanchez is joining the Arizona State women's basketball coaching staff.
Sanchez, 53, joins coach Charli Turner Thorne's staff after three seasons as an assistant at Michigan. She was New Mexico head coach from 2012-16 (77-81 cumulative record) and 2014-15 Mountain West Coach of the Year.
ASU is filling a staff opening created when Angie Nelp became head coach at Tulsa. Others on Turner Thorne's staff are associate head coach Jackie Moore, assistant Nikki Blue and special assistant Meg Sanders.
Turner Thorne said Sanchez "can do a little bit of everything. She has great energy and a wealth of experience on either side of the ball.
