The Sun Devils were back out for the second of 15 spring practices on Wednesday, again conducting drills indoors at the Verde Dickey Dome because of the wet field. They were in helmets and shorts and will go shoulder pads on Saturday.
ASU is working with a thin group when it comes to defensive line and linebackers, but defensive coordinator Danny Gonzales could get a needed boost if a recent newcomer can contribute right away.
Freshman Case Hatch was a late addition to the Sun Devils joining the fold in January after completing a two-year Mormon mission.
