ASU Hockey: Daccord becomes first ASU player to sign NHL contract

Just days after their NCAA Tournament loss to Quinnipiac, ASU junior goaltender Joey Daccord signed an official NHL contract to join the Ottawa Senators on Monday afternoon.

A seventh round draft pick of Ottawa in 2015, Daccord had a decision to make in regards to either signing with the Senators or becoming an free agent this summer. He started every game in net for ASU in the 2018-19 season and he posted a 2.35 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. He had one year left in Tempe if he did not sign with the Senators.

Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold described Daccord as one of the “top-three goalies in the country” after Saturday’s game against the Sun Devils.
