ASU football coach Herm Edwards and his assistants have always stressed the need for all players to prepare as if they were starting so they are ready when their number is called.
That mantra has never been more applicable than with this year's crop of athletes in the secondary. Senior Jalen Harvey started this season as a fourth-string safety after coming over from the offensive side of the ball but climbed the depth chart because of his own talent and injuries to teammates.
Now others will be looking to capitalize on their chance.
