ASU Baseball: Sun Devils fall in extra innings to Washington State

Arizona State (12-13, 4-3 Pac-12) and Washington State (6-14, 2-15) were tied at seven runs a piece from the sixth inning onward, before WSU junior left fielder Justin Harrer knocked a solo shot over left field to give the Cougars an 8-7 win in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday evening.

The Sun Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning that was swept away by Washington State’s monstrous six-run second inning that pulled ASU junior right-hander Sam Romero out of the game.

ASU scored once in the third and regained its lead in the sixth when freshman first baseman Spencer Torkelson launched his 12th home run of the season, breaking Barry Bonds’ single-season freshman home run record set in 1983.
