Fairfield baseball rebounded from a loss to Arizona State to beat Southern, 6-2, Saturday in a rain-delayed NCAA regional elimination game in Austin, Texas.
The Stags (38-4) advance to another elimination game Sunday against the ASU vs. Texas loser, a game that began more than two hours later than scheduled due to the earlier delay.
Fairfield led 2-0 after the second inning and 5-0 after the fourth with Jake Noviello (9-0) pitching five innings for the victory.
Southern (20-30), which lost 11-0 to Texas on Friday, was eliminated from the regional.
