Arizona State women's basketball makes history with consecutive upsets of top-5 teams

Arizona State women’s basketball made school and perhaps national history Sunday, beating a second top five-ranked team in succession.

Unranked ASU downed unbeaten No. 3 Oregon State, 55-47, at Desert Financial Arena two days after upsetting No. 2 Oregon, 72-66, on Friday.

That sends college women’s basketball historians into a search of the records to determine if such a sweep is unprecedented. Nationally ranked Notre Dame beat two top-five teams in a row in the 2018 NCAA Tournament and ranked Stanford did the same in the 2010 regular season. An unranked team has not done so before ASU in at least 20 years.
