TEMPE – It was a sweep to start the home slate for No. 11 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball, beating Colorado Mesa 5-0 in the home opener on Friday.
The win over Colorado Mesa (4-3) keeps Arizona State's record perfect at 5-0, extending the already record-long streak to start a season. Five wins in a row is also tied for the second-longest winning streak in team history, the longest being six.
Courts three, four and five all won their matches in straight sets. For the sophomore duo of Adriana Nieves Papaleo and Kendall Whitmarsh, they improved to 5-0 together this season.
