On the list of pitchers with the lowest all-time ERAs in at least 500 games, the top seven includes three Hall of Famers — Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson and Eddie Plank — plus another surefire Cooperstown inductee in Mariano Rivera.
Number eight on that list is Diamondbacks reliever Brad Ziegler.
"It's pretty crazy," Ziegler said. "Some of the names are the guys talk about as some of the best pitchers in the history of the game."
And yet Ziegler is hardly mentioned among the better relievers in baseball, a familiar refrain for the seemingly always under-the-radar Diamondbacks.
