'Technical issues' cause Opening Day hassle for Diamondbacks fans

Arizona Republic

The Diamondbacks’ first game with fans in the stands amid the pandemic might have been entertaining on the field, but it was chaotic on the concourse.

Fans waited in hours-long concession lines and did not get the items they ordered through mobile apps, a snafu that had many venting on social media as the game was still ongoing. Long lines snaked through a jammed concourse throughout the evening.

The Diamondbacks have a contract with Levy Restaurants to handle concessions, and a team spokesman said Levy was having “technical issues.”

“We have had some technical issues with Levy’s payment systems combined with the fact that we don’t have in-seat dining and the hawkers that would be normally going up and down the aisles,” the spokesman continued.
