Taylor Clarke pumped a triumphant fist as he stepped off the mound at the end of sixth inning on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. It was the first time the Diamondbacks' right-hander had made it through six innings since Mayu2060, and it nearly didn't happen.
With two outs, Baltimore’s Trey Mancini caught a 94 mph fastball for the Orioles’ second home run of the afternoon, cutting the Diamondbacks’ lead to one run. Clarke then surrendered a double to the next batter.
With the potential tying run in scoring position, Clarke squared up against what manager Torey Lovullo had already told him would be his final batter of the afternoon.
