SnakeBytes 6/11: Ch-ch-ch-changes...

(AZ Central) Struggling Diamondbacks ‘part ways’ with hitting coaches Darnell Coles, Eric Hinske

The Diamondbacks fired hitting coach Darnell Coles and his assistant, Eric Hinske, on Thursday, the first significant changes the club has made as its losing skid stretches into its sixth week.

Replacing them will be Rick Short and Drew Hedman, who will serve as co-hitting coaches. Short had been the hitting coach for Triple-A Reno. Hedman had been a sort of third hitting coach for the big league team in his previous role as run-production coordinator.

Lovullo — who stressed that Coles and Hinske were no more to blame than anyone else for those numbers as much as they were casualties of the team’s search for a solution — said he waited to make a change until his roster was healthier.
