Luke Weaver turned in a solid outing and was backed by an offense led by blossoming Brandon Marsh and the steadily improving Nick Ahmed. The Diamondbacks jumped out to a quick first inning lead in this one. Luke Weaver struck out the first two batters of the game and then induced a lazy fly to left off the bat of Nelson Cruz. The Diamondbacks responded in the bottom of the first by scoring two runs, courtesy of three singles, a walk, and a wild pitch.
The Twins responded by scoring a run in the top of the second, but the Diamondbacks kept the pressure on, getting that run back in the bottom of the second, thanks to a solo home run by Ahmed to start the frame off.
