Snake Bytes: 8/5 - Not a Trash Can in Sight

Madison Bumgarner allowed seven runs on seven hits. Meanwhile, Arizona’s offense continued to struggle scoring runs.

Making it just 4.1 innings (83 pitches/56 strikes), Bumgarner allowed seven earned runs on seven hits. He walked two, gave up two home runs, and struck out two. He also hit three Astros with pitches (and they didn’t rob him of anything).

Torey Lovullo insists that the mass substitutions made in Tuesday’s game were not a message to the team. That seems likely, as the message was already sent. This feels more like Lovullo reinforcing the message by following through with actions.
