Zack Greinke did not allow a runner to second base through the front five innings. Then a few extended at-bats by Detroit, an error by Brandond Drury, and a misplay by David Peralta in the outfield chased Greinke from the game with two outs in the sixth, after five unearned runs had crossed the plate. Hoover was unable to keep the tying run from scoring, but the bullpen threw zeros after that, tallying three scoreless frames. Peralta found redemption ni the ninth when he smacked a solo home run to left field to put the Diamondbacks back on top.
