ST. LOUIS -- The D-backs added to their Minor League pitching depth when they claimed right-hander Troy Scribner off waivers from the Angels on Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Reno.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the D-backs designated outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker for assignment.
"It's something we've talked about quite a bit through Spring Training," D-backs general manager Mike Hazen said. "We want to continue to build our depth, and we feel like he's going to complement both the rotation and the bullpen.
