Safety and health forcing MLB teams to rethink everything as they ponder return

As baseball tries to figure out a way to start its season amidst a global pandemic, the focus has been – rightly so – on how to keep players and staff safe from coronavirus infection.

But it won’t be the only health-related question facing the sport if and when it resumes.

Teams also will have to find a way to avoid injuries despite unprecedented circumstances. Never before have clubs made it two-thirds of the way through spring training, shut down for 2 1/2 months (if not longer), then gone through a second, abbreviated spring training before starting their season.
