With a series of roster moves on Sunday morning, the Diamondbacks have apparently set the position-player portion of their roster for Opening Day while one spot on the pitching staff is still to be determined.
Outfielder Trayce Thompson was reassigned to minor league camp, a move that likely means Pavin Smith, Wyatt Mathisen and Josh VanMeter will be on the roster for Thursday’s opener at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres.
Pitchers Joe Mantiply and Anthony Swarzak were also reassigned and right-hander Jon Duplantier has been optioned to Triple-A Reno, which appears signal that right-hander Yoan Lopez will make the club.
