Games one and two in the National League Championship Series did not exactly go the way St. Louis planned. Can’t blame their pitching for that, as they held Washington to a 2.50 ERA. But their hitting was even more stifled by Anibal Sanchez and Max Scherzer. Through two games, the Cardinals are batting just .070, having gone 4-for-57 with just one extra-base hit, eighteen strikeouts and a .233 OPS. Marcell Ozuna and Tommy Edman, who went 15-for-40 in the Division Series against Atlanta, are 0-for-14 so far, and Dexter Fowler’s Pollock-esque postseason has continued - he’s 2-for-29 in the playoffs.
