Outbreak of MLB brawls: Did the Arizona Diamondbacks start the fire?

In recent years, bench-clearing brawls in baseball have become a rarity. And if they do happen, it's generally later in the season when tensions have the chance to reach a boiling point.

But not this year — and especially not on Wednesday, as two all-out brawls erupted and saw a total of eight ejections. The season is just two weeks old, and we've already have several such incidences.

One of the first face-offs of the season came on Sunday in St. Louis when Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was ejected for arguing balls and strikes.

“I simply said that he is one of the best ever and then I used the two words that everybody is very well-versed on,” Lovullo said after the incident.
