Mountain Ridge left-hander Matthew Liberatore was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 16th overall pick in the MLB draft on Monday.
Sandra Day O'Connor third baseman Nolan Gorman was taken shortly after by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 19th overall pick.
Liberatore struck out 104 batters in 60 1/3 innings with an ERA of 0.93 this past season.
Gorman, who hit 10 home runs, batted over .400 and walked 46 times last season, helped lead Sandra Day O'Connor to its first 6A state championship last month.
