Sitting at a dais at Chase Field on Tuesday afternoon, Madison Bumgarner was where he wanted to be – where he had hoped to be when the offseason began.
The recipient of a sizable contract from the Diamondbacks – five years and $85 million is sizable by their standards, at least – Bumgarner said he could have taken more elsewhere.
But he has been coming to Phoenix every spring since 2007. A native of North Carolina, he sees beauty in the desert. He calls Arizona his home away from home.
