Typically, I wouldn’t recommend the governing body of any sport to follow the NCAA’s lead on anything.
But the NCAA did the right thing on Wednesday, announcing that after consulting health experts about the coronavirus, it would conduct all upcoming championship events, including the Division I men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, with only essential staff and limited family in attendance.
It’s a bold, but necessary move, and one that several conferences are following as they stage tournaments this week. The Pac-12 allowed fans to attend Wednesday's games in Las Vegas, but announced they will be sending fans home for Thursday's games.
