A five-run first set the tone for this one early, 1B Kevin Cron and C Lucas Herbert each hitting two-run homers in the inning. SS Ildemaro Vargas added a three-run shot in the sixth, and finished a double short of the cycle. That was more than enough support for Matt Koch, who allowed two runs over six innings, on two hits and four walks, with 11 strikeouts. Damien Magnifico closed things out with a pair of hitless innings.
The Generals jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four, thanks mostly to C Daulton Varsho’s 15th home-run of the season, which drove in three runs.
