SAN FRANCISCO – From flooding social media with voting reminders and clever videos to walking an actual lamb around the clubhouse, the Diamondbacks went all-in on their campaign to get third baseman Jake Lamb to the All-Star Game.
But their creative efforts weren’t enough as Lamb slotted fourth in MLB’s Final Vote for the National League with Giants first baseman Brandon Belt taking the contest Friday after receiving 10.4 million votes.
“I obviously knew going into it just how it works, the voting and everything, that it’s not purely numbers-based,” Lamb said. “That’s the way it is.
