PITTSBURGH – When the Diamondbacks made the deal to land Jon Jay a little more than two weeks ago, they were just looking to fill a hole in a struggling lineup. Jay has done that. He also might have jumpstarted the rest of the offense.
As he has for most of his time with his new team, Jay sparked the Diamondbacks’ lineup in a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night. He led off the game with a double and scored the game’s first run. An inning later, he broke things open with a two-run double.
