Hill one of D-Backs' last pricey veterans

DENVER – When asked about being one of the few holdovers from the previous regime, one of the few veterans remaining from the core of players former General Manager Kevin Towers tried to build around, infielder Aaron Hill jokingly looked over both of his shoulders.

Following Saturday's trade of right-hander Bronson Arroyo, the Diamondbacks have purged nearly all of the pricey contracts given to veteran players by the previous administration.

Third baseman Martin Prado and catcher Miguel Montero were traded last year, Trevor Cahill this year. Cody Ross was released at the end of spring training. And with Arroyo dealt to the Atlanta Braves in a salary dump, Hill can't help but wonder if he might be next.
