GM Mike Hazen eyeing ways to diversify Diamondbacks’ offense

As their season teetered on the brink of irrelevance, the Diamondbacks’ lineup stopped producing. It could not hit, it could not put runners on base, it could not score runs, and soon the club found itself buried in the standings and ultimately eliminated.

The stretch left a stain on the year. And it left an impression on the mind of General Manager Mike Hazen.

It was there the day after the season, when Hazen sat in the interview room at Chase Field and told reporters how his offense needed to improve next season. It remains there some three weeks later, as Hazen attempts to come up with a way of doing just that this offseason.
