As he stretched with his new teammates on an agility field on Wednesday morning, Madison Bumgarner was the only pitcher wearing a hoodie atop his jersey. It was as if he were giving everyone a little more time to get used to seeing him in full Diamondbacks uniform for the first time.
Bumgarner glided through his first official workout since signing a five-year, $85 million deal with the Diamondbacks in the offseason, then met with the media for just shy of 10 minutes.
Speaking slowly in his North Carolina drawl, he did not say much, seeming almost to be avoiding controversy.
