Drury slugs his way to Opening Day roster

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale couldn’t say how he’s going to find at-bats for rookie slugger Brandon Drury. Hale just felt it wouldn’t be right to open the season without him.

“We really, truly think he deserves to make this team,” Hale said. “He kind of busted the door down.”

Drury was informed after Saturday afternoon’s spring finale that he’d made the team, as was veteran Rickie Weeks Jr., rounding out a position player group that also will include rookie outfielder Socrates Brito.
