Diamondbacks' top prospect Jon Duplantier out with biceps injury

SAN FRANCISCO – Top pitching prospect Jon Duplantier is out with right biceps tendinitis, but the organization doesn’t seem to believe the injury is overly concerning.

General Manager Mike Hazen said Duplantier complained that his pitches didn’t have their typical velocity during a recent start with Double-A Jackson, prompting the organization to get him examined.

“He didn’t feel like it was right,” Hazen said. “So, obviously, we made sure we checked it out, did the MRI.”

Hazen said the images showed inflammation but nothing structurally concerning. Duplantier is on anti-inflammatories.

“He’ll be shut down for a short little bit,” Hazen said.
