The Diamondbacks have begun to inform employees that the team will implement layoffs, furloughs and pay cuts as it looks to cut costs with revenues at a standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The number of employees who will be let go or furloughed remains unclear. Several other clubs, including the Rays, Angels, Reds and Athletics, have also put employees on furlough during the shutdown.
Baseball remains on hold as owners and players negotiate details of a potential return this summer, though the sides reportedly are not in agreement on either a financial plan or a health and safety plan.
