Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker diagnosed with UCL injury

Diamondbacks right-hander Taijuan Walker suffered damage to his ulnar collateral ligament and is flying to New York for a second opinion on Wednesday, but Arizona could be without his services for multiple weeks, if not months.

The fear, of course, is that Walker, who left Saturday’s game in Los Angeles against the Dodgers with right forearm tightness, will have to undergo Tommy John surgery. That would not only end his season, but also force him to miss the start of the 2019 season as well.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Walker underwent an MRI exam conducted by team physicians on Monday, which revealed the damage.
