The Arizona Diamondbacks made a couple of Minor League moves over the past three days. First baseman/Designated Hitter Matt Fields was signed as a free agent and assigned to Double A Mobile. Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Blake Beavan was released by the club’s Triple A affiliate, the Reno Aces according to mlbtraderumors.com.
Fields was originally drafted in the 44th round of the 2004 Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He spent six years in the Rays’ organization rising as high as Double A. After playing in the independent Frontier League, he was signed by the Kansas City Royals.
