The Diamondbacks traded right-hander Matt Andriese to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday in exchange for pitching prospect Jeremy Beasley.
Andriese spent last season in the bullpen for the Diamondbacks, logging 70 2/3 innings with a 4.71 ERA.
With the acquisitions of relievers Junior Guerra and Hector Rondon, as well as the signing of Madison Bumgarner, which could shift a starter into a relief role, Andriese had become expendable.
Andriese avoided arbitration last week, agreeing to a $1.4 million deal, cash the Diamondbacks can now potentially allocate elsewhere.
