MONTERREY, Mexico – It was a beautiful night for baseball when Gelacio and Adriana Ramirez arrived for a spring training game.

The Arizona Diamondbacks were playing the Colorado Rockies. The temperature was cooling off as the sun went down. The sky was clear, and the jagged mountains beyond provided a stunning backdrop reminiscent of the Rockies home stadium in Denver.

But this wasn't Denver, nor was it spring training in Arizona. The teams were in Monterrey, a modern city in northern Mexico.

Here, soccer is the sport of choice, though there are baseball fans to be found.
