Following another disappointing season, the Diamondbacks cleaned house once again, bringing in a new group of executives to lead their baseball operations department. But for as little as the new front office, led by General Manager Mike Hazen, might seem to have in common with the previous regime, headed by Tony La Russa and Dave Stewart, they do appear to align on at least one thing.
Both believe the Diamondbacks’ core of players is better than last season’s 69-93 record would suggest. And, as such, Hazen chose to keep the group largely intact for 2017, giving the unit what might be one last chance to win together.
