Diamondbacks blow lead in eighth inning on bizarre play, lose to Mets

After being staked to a one-run lead in the previous inning, Diamondbacks right-hander Matt Andriese lost control and the Mets took a 5-4 lead in the eighth.

The Mets wound up winning the game by that score.

Todd Frazier and Adeiny Hechavarria smacked consecutive two-out singles and pinch-hitter J.D. Davis delivered the RBI base hit with a slow bouncer that was just out of Andriese's reach.

Andriese made enough contact with the ball to slow it down for second baseman Ketel Marte. No play could be made while Frazier scored the equalizer.

Then Carlos Gomez hit a ball down the third-base line that looked foul but was ruled fair by home-plate umpire Manny Gonzalez.
