A.J. Pollock tries not to get too caught up in the emotions of the game, even on Opening Day, but the Diamondbacks center fielder said he allowed himself to make an exception on Sunday afternoon. After a season hijacked by injuries, Pollock was thankful to be back where he belonged.
“It was awesome,” Pollock said. “I definitely had little reflections of all that work last year during the season and the hard work just to get back on the field.”
On Opening Day a year ago, Pollock was preparing to undergo surgery on his right elbow, which needed a bracket and screws to repair a complicated fracture.
