Diamondbacks 9, Giants 11: B-bullpen gets an F

Spring record: 1-1. Change on 2019: 0.

An ugly set of middle innings for the Diamondbacks’ pitching staff, as they let the Giants score nine unanswered runs in the fifth through seventh inning. That turned a 4-2 lead for Arizona into an 11-4 deficit, though the D-backs’ hitters made the final score respectable with a five-run eighth of their own. On the plus side, the pitchers who have a roster spot more or less locked up looked pretty good. Zac Gallen got the start, and was crisply effective, throwing two perfect innings with one strikeout.
