Shelby Miller retired the Padres in order through the first two innings, but let them take advantage in the third. Eric Aybar lead off the inning with a walk, and he was moved to second on a Travis Jankowski single. Their pitcher, Jarrod Cosart, bunted unsuccessfully, with Chris Iannetta throwing Aybar out at third. Miguel Margot made the second out when he flew out to Jake Lamb, but Wil Myers singled, scoring Jankowski. Miller shut it down after that Yangervis Solarte to pop out to end the inning.
