A 3-run deficit isn't usually something to get unnerved about, particularly when it's only the second inning. But if you're a team struggling to score runs and the 3-run deficit comes against your ace, there is reason for concern.
It was an all too familiar scenario for the Arizona Diamondbacks who fell behind early and couldn't recover, dropping the opener of a three-game set against the visiting Houston Astros, 8-2, Tuesday at Chase Field.
